Uncle Ton with The South
In the early years of the twentieth century, Ton Duc Thang left his hometown An Giang to Saigon, studied mechanism and became a worker. Since there, after the first patriotic activities in Saigon, Ton Duc Thang chose to follow an AMBITION: from the workers – being mature in the labor movement, to become a Communist, committing himself and fighting for the career of national liberation.
Returning after 15 years in Con Dao prison, Uncle Ton was elected to be one member in the first National Assembly, moved to the Northern and held various responsibilities, becoming the President. The son of the South was always constantly MISSING THE SOUTH during 30 long years of separation.
Only after the liberation of the South, reunification of the Country, Uncle Ton had a chance to return to the South, REUNITED with his relatives, family, meet friends, comrades.
With nearly 70 years of revolutionary activities, even Uncle Ton passed away, his legacy would LIVE FOREVER.On the occasion ofhis 35th Dead Commemoration (30/3/1980-30/3/2015) and the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the South (30/4/1975-30/4/2015), Ton Duc Thang Museum organizes the exhibition with the main themes "Uncle Ton with the South", in order to introduce the tremendous dedication of Uncle Ton to the revolutionary career of the Party and the nation, the liberation struggle of the South and reunification of the nation to the public.
